The latest UAE football results put three clubs in the spotlight. Al Ain and Shabab Al Ahli made it two wins from two in the AFC Champions League Elite, while Al Nasr opened their Gulf Club Champions League campaign with a 3-0 win. Here is a full round-up, including the ADIB Cup and the latest ADNOC Pro League table.
Al Ain 4-1 Al Quwa Al Jawiya: Rahimi Double Keeps the Champions Perfect
Al Ain beat Iraq’s Al Quwa Al Jawiya (Air Force Club) 4-1 on 12 October in matchday 2 of the AFC Champions League Elite West.
The UAE champions scored all four goals before half-time. Kaku opened the scoring in the 13th minute, an own goal made it 2-0 five minutes later, and Houssine Rahimi struck in the 23rd and 43rd minutes. Al Quwa Al Jawiya pulled one back in the final minute.
It was Rahimi’s second brace in two Asian matches. He also scored twice in the 4-0 win over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on matchday 1.
With six points from six, Vladimir Ivić’s side share top spot in the West standings with Esteghlal Khuzestan. The challenge now is to keep that level across a long league phase against very different tactical approaches.
Al Ittihad 1-2 Shabab Al Ahli: Azmoun Double Silences Jeddah
Shabab Al Ahli won 2-1 away at Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad on 13 October at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah.
Sardar Azmoun scored both goals, in the 7th and 16th minutes. Both came from fast counter-attacks, the first set up by Guilherme Bala. Richard Ríos replied for Al Ittihad in the 66th minute, but the Dubai club held on.
The win gives Shabab Al Ahli a perfect six points and fourth place in the West standings. Tactically, it was a lesson in away-game discipline: the hosts had more of the ball and far more shots, but Shabab Al Ahli were clinical on the break and compact without it.
Al Nasr 3-0 Riffa: Winning Start in the Gulf Club Champions League
Al Nasr began their 2026-27 Gulf Club Champions League campaign with a 3-0 win over Bahrain’s Riffa at Al Maktoum Stadium on 13 October.
Ramón Miérez opened the scoring on 30 minutes, Kevin Agudelo added a second straight after half-time, and Ajdin Hrustić made it 3-0 on 63 minutes.
The expanded tournament now features 12 clubs in three groups. Milos Milojević’s side lead Group B, which also includes Qatar SC and Iraq’s Al Zawraa. Ajman are the second UAE club in the competition.
ADIB Cup Results: Late Drama for Al Wasl, Comeback for Al Nasr
Gameweek 3 of the ADIB Cup (UAE League Cup) was played on 8–9 October.
Al Wasl came from behind to win 2-1 away at Khorfakkan. Mehdi Taremi headed the equaliser in the 77th minute and Soufiane Bouftini scored the winner in stoppage time. It was Al Wasl’s third straight win in the competition.
Al Nasr also came from behind, beating Hatta 4-1. Kevin Agudelo scored twice, an own goal added a third, and Ramón Miérez headed the fourth.

What Comes Next for UAE Football?
The ADNOC Pro League returns with Matchweek 6 from 16 to 18 October. The headline fixture is Shabab Al Ahli vs Al Ain on 17 October: two clubs unbeaten in Asia, meeting just days after their continental wins.
Al Nasr will try to build on their Gulf opener, and Al Wasl will look to carry their ADIB Cup form into the league. Early results are a guide, not a verdict: consistency, rotation and the ability to react to setbacks will decide the season.
Football Translator’s Perspective
UAE football is one of the most international environments in the game. Coaches from Serbia, Brazil, Portugal and Romania work with squads that mix Emirati, Arab, European, African and South American players.
In that environment, clear communication between coaches, players and technical staff is a competitive advantage. A tactical idea only works if every player understands it the same way. Read more about football interpretation in the UAE Pro League.
